Julius Caesar [opera in three acts]

Summary: Caesar, after the assassination of his Roman adversary Pompey by the Egyptians at Alexandria, is himself overwhelmed in a failed murder attempt by Ptolemy's son Achillas. Caesar is believed to be drowned. Caesar returns with Roman legions, rescues the wife and son of Pompey and enthrones Cleopatra as Queen of Egypt.
