""Harold and the Purple Crayon" is a sound filmstrip designed to develop literary appreciation. In the story, a boy named Harold draws pictures and is able to step into them, to walk down the roads he draws and to cross his own ocean in a boat he draws. He also creates a moose and a "deserving porcupine" to finish the picnic for which he has drawn too many pies to eat by himself. The filmstrip consists of drawings which originally illustrated the book. The 2-color drawings are in purple and black. This material seems appropriate for preschool through grade 1. An illustrated script is included with the filmstrip. The story is also available in book form, and on a phonograph record. Individual combinations of these formats are available for purchase. AEJ, 5-76."@en
