Autumn

"Forty days have passed since the world died. Billions of corpses walk the Earth. Everything is disintegrating... A group of eleven men and woman have survived against the odds. On almost a daily basis, they attack the dead with brutal ferocity, tearing through them with utter contempt. Somewhere nearby, out of sight and out of earshot, are another group who have adopted a completely different survival strategy. Where the others have used brutality and strength, these people have demonstrated subtlety, planning and tactics. A series of horrific events force the two groups together. Backed into a corner and surrounded by hundreds of thousands of corpses, they all know that their final battle with the dead is about to begin. Do they attack first, or is it time to take a different approach? The decision splits the group, and with the lives of everyone at stake, no-one is prepared to back down. Time is running out, and it's no longer clear whether the biggest threat comes from outside the walls of the shelter or from within"--

  • "AUTUMN, the classic underground novel finally bursts into the mainstream. It is cold, dark, relentless - and uncomfortably plausible, a NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD for the 21st Century. Amazon said: 'The perfect zombie story, nothing written in the genre has grabbed me in the same way as AUTUMN, an equal to Romero's Night of the Living Dead'. In the tradition of THE WALKING DEAD, and from an author whose HATER was optioned by Guillermo del Toro, director of PAN'S LABYRINTH, this is a chilling and frightening read. In less than twenty-four hours a vicious and virulent viral epidemic destroys virtually all of the population. Billions are killed, within minutes. There are no symptoms and no warnings; within moments of infection each victim suffers a violent and agonising death. At the end of ten minutes, only a handful of survivors remain. By the end of the first day those survivors wish they were dead. By the end of the first week, as the dead get up and walk, they know they are in hell."@en
  • "Forty days after the world has died, billions of corpses walk on the Earth. A group of eleven men and women have survived and brutally attack the corpses everyday. Another group has also survived, but live through subtlety and tactics. Then a series of horrific events bring the two groups together, and they must decide which strategy to choose. The final battle against death is about to begin, but the group splits over differences. With all their lives at stake, no one will compromise, and as time runs out, it becomes doubtful whether the worst threat comes from without, or from within."@en
