http://schema.org/description

  • "The Theodore Goodman collection consists of biographical material, several short manuscripts, printed works by Goodman and the grade books he kept as a member of the Department of English at the City College of New York. There are also miscellanea relating to his interest in James Joyce, including photographs taken in Dublin in 1938. A major portion of the collection consists of correspondence. In addition to a few letters by Goodman, there are letters written to him by former students in which they discuss works in progress, as well as social and personal matters. After his death in 1952, such letters continued to be addressed to his widow, Lillian. Correspondents include: Willa Cather, William O. Douglas, Leon Edel, Leonard Ehrlich (Class of 1928), William Gibson (1936ex), Bernard Malamud (1936), Irwin Stark (Class of 1935), and Eliot Wagner (Class of 1937). City College faculty represented in the collection include Oscar Janowsky, Edgar Johnson, Paul Sherwin and John C. Thirlwall. Also letters from Abel Doysie and Alexander Lindey."
