Letter is signed "Ern", and refers to conditions in the Egyptian desert for the 2nd Australian Light Horse Brigade, and comments at length on Brigadier General Granville Ryrie, commander of the 2nd Light Horse Brigade. (He is referred to as "old G"). Also, photograph of "Dead Turks" with Light Horsemen, inscribed with a note from Ernest Wood to Sam. Note refers to "Poor Young Higgins"--Captain Mervyn Higgins (son of Mr Justice Henry Bournes Higgins).
