This material includes an official war diary onboard "Suevic", 1919; Young's diary kept whilst he was a sergeant, 1917-1918; letters to Dorothy Cambridge whom he later married, his mother, and William Hughs, Prime Minister; folders of typescript relating to army training, Northern Territory and New Guinea. See descriptive list for further detail. Also includes two photocopied letters written by Norman Young to his parents. The first letter was written on board the 'Nestor' on his way to the war in Europe, 1917. The second letter records his travels through Italy via France to England in early 1918.
