Forbes correspondence and letterbooks; and a narrative related to William H. Forbes's Civil War experiences in the First and Second Regiments of the Massachusetts Volunteer Cavalry. Family correspondents include Ruth Haskins Emerson, Ellen Tucker Emerson, Ralph Waldo Emerson, John Murray Forbes, and William Cameron Forbes. Also includes items created by the Peabody family; letters written by Una Hawthorne to Edith Emerson Forbes; correspondence pertaining to the upkeep of the Hawthorne graves and the John Haskins tomb; and a commonplace-book of Emma Perkins Forbes. A separate autograph collection contains letters written by William Allingham, Helen Allingham, Lady Ashburton, Alexander Ireland, Maxfield Parrish, Anne Ritchie, John Tyndall, Sir Francis Younghusband, and Lady Helen Younghusband, among others."
