The Big Picture A Debt Is Honored

This episode of The Big Picture television series produced by the U.S. Army tells the story of a historic incident in 1763 when the forerunners of Philadelphia's 111th Infantry Regiment (Pennsylvania National Guard) were besieged by Indians at Fort Pitt in the midst of the French and Indian War and rescued by the tough troops of Britain's Black Watch. Since that time in 1763, the descendants of the 111th and the Black Watch Regiment have maintained a close and friendly association. This video from the National Archives and Records Administration offers a close-up look at the many activities that take place in conjunction with the annual ceremonial mess held by the descendants of the 111th in Philadelphia in tribute to the Black Watch Regiment.
