Pennington family papers

1903 Diary and typescript of later diaries, and financial records for the Geronimo Hotel including hotel registers. A handwritten diary of Mary Kate Hendricks, 1903, was kept prior to her marriage and recounts events in her life as a single woman and music teacher in Tucson. She describes social activities including dances, excursions to San Xavier, Tombstone, the Opera House, the San Xavier Hotel, and her relationships with friends and romances with boyfriends. Typescripts are present of later diaries (or remininscences) from the period from 1907, after her marriage to Nealy Pennington, while living in Clifton and Phoenix. There are also financial records for the Geronimo Hotel from 1936 and 1937 and a hotel register from 1949 to 1950.

The correspondence of James Adolphus Pennington includes two letters, one of which is addressed to his aunt, Charlotte Pennington; the other letter is addressed to his sister, Phebe Louisa Pennington (b. 1817). The remainder of the collection consists of Frances Amelia Pennington's correspondence to her sister, Phebe Louisa Pennington. Also included in the papers are transcriptions and copies of the original letters."
