Die falsche Kleidung, der falsche Haarschnitt und eine von der Mutter geerbte musikalische Neigung für Joni Mitchell machen Marcus in der Schule zum Aussenseiter. Zum Glück bringt ihn das Schicksal mit Will zusammen, der Experte in Mode und Popmusik und Fussball ist. Marcus merkt bald, wie nützlich ihm Will beim Aufbau einer neuen Persönlichkeit sein kann. Fast gegen seinen Willen gerät Will so in den Sog von Kindern und Müttern."
