Smuggler's trail

Set in Texas in the early 1900's, Tom Dallas, an aging U.S. marshal, forces a known outlaw, Jack Ripley, to cooperate with him in tracking down the leader of a gang engaged in the practice of smuggling chinese laborers into the United States. Ripley's incentive is that the marshal will drop a trumped up charge of passing counterfeit money. How Ripley accomplishes his task creates a tale of danger and intrigue.
