Diese Geschichte hat der irische Schriftsteller James Joyce 1936 für seinen kaum 9-jährigen Enkel Stephen geschrieben, wie wir bei der Einführung am Anfang erfahren. Joyce lässt in seinen Werken gern Wortkreationen einfliessen wie 'Bellsybabbel' (die Sprache des Teufels), die sich verständlicherweise auch in anderssprachigen Versionen , die SJW herausgegeben hat, nicht übersetzen lassen. Illustriert ist die phantasievolle Story mit lustigen, farbigen Aquarellen. Ab 8 Jahren, ****, Denise Racine."
