Family and marriage around colonial trade : Cádiz, 1700-1812

The goals of this dissertation are: to demonstrate the relationship between major historical events and ordinary family lives, to determine that the family values of elite groups in Spain changed in the transition to modern times, and to show that gender roles altered in eighteenth-century Cadiz as a consequence of male migration due to colonial trade.
