Papers : of Daniel Decatur Emmett and the Ankeney family
The papers contain a 63 page book of "walk-rounds" composed by Emmett, 1859-1868, most of which were staged by Bryant's minstrels. "Dixie's land," "Turkey in the straw" and "Cross over Jordan" are included. The songs are fair copies in an unknown hand. A page of handwritten "remarks" by Emmett prefaces the volume. The collection also contains a play "Hard times, " 1859, with directions for staging and casting.
