Impact of the use of microorganisms on the aquatic environment : proceedings [of a symposium-workshop held in Pensacola Beach, Florida, in April, 1974]
The artificial introduction of various microbial insect control agents or oil-degrading agents into the aquatic environment is discussed, with special attention being given to persistence of pathogens and the control of weeds and other non-insect pests. Also discussed is the use of micro-organisms to clean up oil spills in aquatic environments, with special attention given to the selection of hydrocarbonoclastic micro-organisms. Cf.
