The Gannetts: William Howard Gannett, Guy Patterson Gannett

William Howard Gannett was born in 1854 in Augusta, Maine. He married Sarah Hill in 1878. He was a pioneer in the publishing industry. In 1922, he turned the business over to his son, Guy Patterson Gannett. Guy married Anne J. Macombar in 1905 and later became an outstanding newspaper publisher and aviator. Both William and Guy were active in local politics and civic responsibilities.
