http://schema.org/description

  • "This collection consists of eight documents, all in English. The documents discuss Egypt from 4575 B.P. - 3552 B.P. (2575 B.C. - 1553 B.C.). This time period overlaps the end of Early Dynastic Egypt and includes the Old Kingdom starting with the Fourth Dynasty, the First Intermediate Period, the Middle Kingdom, and the Second Intermediate Period or the 4th-17th Dynasties. Readers can get the best overview for the time span by reading Kemp. Cagle describes the archaeological deposits from Kom el-Hisn in the Delta and in doing so provides the most data on everyday life. Hoffman also describes preliminary findings from archaeological work around Heirakonpolis but only a small portion pertains to Protohistoric Egypt. Aldred also provides an overview of architecture, art, and sculpture made for the elite. Brovarski translates hieroglyphs on stelae and some of the buildings from Abydos and describes and dates them. El-Dissouky translates stelae from tombs from the town of Elephantine. Most of the tombs discussed belonged to town officials who were expedition leaders but not nomarchs. Fischer uses information from Dendera cemetery to obtain data on the governing of Egypt, the cult of Hathor and a little about the town of Dendera itself."
