"Uscito di prigione dove ha scontato sette anni per un reato di cui continua a proclamarsi innocente, George cerca lavoro. La moglie lo respinge violentemente, impedendogli di vedere la figlia che egli ama molto e all'uomo, ormai solo, non resta che bussare alla porta del suo amico Diny. Farà l'autista a Simone, una squillo negra di gran classe, accompagnandola là ove clienti la richiedono. Lentamente un rapporto di simpatia e di amicizia, da brusco qual era, si instaura tra i due; poi un giorno Simone chiede a George di cercarle e trovarle Cathy, una prostituta quindicenne che ha perduto di vista e alla quale lei vuole molto bene. George indaga, ingolfandosi nei pericolosi e sordidi meandri della prostituzione londinese e frequentando locali e luoghi malfamati, scopre ad un certo momento che la ragazza, ormai ridotta ad un mezzo straccio, non è che una delle tante pedine da cui l'amico Diny ricava lucrosi guadagni. George riesce a strappare Cathy dal giro in cui è invischiata e l'affida a Simone, constatando però amaramente, ad operazione compiuta che il rapporto tra le due ragazze è di natura ben altrimenti gratificante. Alla fine della penosa vicenda, George si ritrova solo e senza lavoro, ma sempre con l'affetto di un caro amico (Thomas, un meccanico che l'ha generosamente accolto) e con quello della figlia, che ora ha fiducia nel suo papà."@it
