  • "This thesis examines the factors impacting on the performance of banks in Vietnam from intemal and extemal dimensions using the balanced scorecard, the neo-classical economic theory and the strategic management paradigm frameworks. With these aspects, this thesis is concerned about three key perspectives. Firstly, the motives of bank perfonnance include financial and non-financial elements. Secondly, it is the internal environmental factors impacting on the bank performance, and the third perspective is associated with the external enviromnental factors influencing the performance of banks. From the bank performance perspective, a variety of motives are used as proxies. Theses proxies are indentified from the balanced scorecard and previous studies. These proxies are traditional financial ratios to measure the performance of banks. They also include non-financial elements which are used to measure the quality of banks' activities, such as quality of human resources, technological advances and quality of banking products and services."
